this may be on of the reason code 0x80000000 if you check the event viewer  with event id 1074 .

Description:
The process C:\Windows\system32\wlms\wlms.exe (<Computer Name>) has initiated the shutdown of computer <Computer Name> on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Other (Planned)
Reason Code: 0x80000000
Shutdown Type: shutdown
Comment: The license period for this installation of Windows has expired. The operating system is shutting down.

As the event states: The license period for this installation of Windows has expired.

To reset the evaluation period, Click Start, and then click Command Prompt > type  slmgrvbs –rearm, and then press ENTER.

After rebooting of Windows 2008 server there TCP/IP setting Default gateway configuration removed .

Event putting back Default gateway configuration its not taking .

So you need to reset TCP/IP configuration . Refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base  299357.

1- Open Command Prompt with Admin privilege.

2-  netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

3- Reboot the server

4- Give the TCP/IP default gateway  and check .

1- Reboot the XP

2- Boot with safe mode with command prompt

3- run command explorer.exe  (it will open your desktop)

4- Go to run

5- Execute the command “rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupOobeBnk”

Note command is case sensitive.

6- Reboot the XP

7- Now you can login.

I was trying to convert windows 8 P2v on vmware ESXi 5 . Windows 8 converted successfully . but when I powered on it stuck windows start up screen and  endless spinning circle .I was thinking P2V was not successful then i tried to install fresh windows 8 but there was same issue .

I Google it and got VMware article to patch the ESXi 5.0 to fix this bug. But there was easy solution .While creating virtual machine for  windows 8 choose windows 7 64 bit operating system and install windows 8. Its resolved the issue for me .
